It is challenging to maintain the body's normal physiological balance in the modern period due to erratic eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle patterns that upset the equilibrium of Doshas. The Doṣhas in their Chayavastha (accumulation stage), along with specific etiological factors, constitute the root cause of various diseases. People with Doṣha duṣhṭi may experience hypersensitivity reactions, of which allergic rhinitis is a common manifestation, when exposed to environmental pollution, climate differences, strong scents, and sudden lifestyle changes. Based on symptomatology, allergic rhinitis can be correlated with Pratishyaya, particularly Vatika Pratishyaya. The condition typically begins with Kapha kopa, along with Vatadushti, and Srotorodha, with predominant involvement of Vata and Kapha and secondary participation of Pitta, which together explain the clinical presentation. Management is aimed at addressing the root cause to reduce the risk of disease recurrence. Ayurveda places a strong emphasis on maintaining both physical and mental health through regimented daily and seasonal practices. A thorough framework for maintaining systemic balance and boosting resistance to illness is provided by Dinacharya and Ritucharya, as well as dietary and lifestyle recommendations and the frequent practice of Sodhana Chikitsa. This paper clarifies an Ayurvedic viewpoint on allergic rhinitis, emphasizing the importance of Doṣha based etiology and the significance of therapeutic and preventive lifestyle measures in enhancing overall quality of life and disease management.
